I feel miserable in disease
And so do others.
I can afford to get the treatment, But some cannot and they cry with pain

It was with this feeling that some of us joined hands and started ‘Janta Charity Clinic’ in a small village ‘Janata Colony’ in the state of Punjab in north India in August, 1997 to treat the physically disabled and special needs children and adults.

Our endeavor to create awareness of the plight of these special kids, led to the development of this website titled ''Aastha' , which is in Indian word that signifies 'HOPE'.

Hope is what we all need to create a better world for ourselves, our families, our friends and for the people who are less fortunate than us. Brining up a kid in this world is a challenge in itself. Imagine the hardships, these special kids face on a day to day basis? These kids have to not only overcome the physical and emotional turmoil due to their physical disabilities, they also have to overcome the challenges of living in abject poverty and also support their families by in making a living everyday.

Theirs is a world far different than ours that only a few of us have experienced or can understand. Some of us would characterize their world as living hell, yet these kids do not begrudge their lives and face their challenges head on with dignity and respect without seeking help from anyone.

Aastha is borne out of our vision is to empower disabled kids and adults to improve their lives through formal education and providing them access to training in crafts and trade to enable them to be financially independent. We want to foster an environment of peace, culture and education, so they can live their lives with dignity and respect and become capable individuals who can add value and make lasting impact in their respective communities.

We are a non-profit organization actively seeking support from individuals who can help us in our endeavor. For monetary and non-monetary donations such as clothing, toys, books etc, please contact us.
